Pattern for Green Mountain Tea Cosy
You will need:
100g Artesano Aran Alpaca Yarn
5mm circular or DPN needles
Pattern for Front
Row 1: K35
Row 2, (P1. K4, P1, K4) 3 times, P1, K4
Row 3: K35
Row 4, (P6, K4) 3 times, P5
Pattern for Back:
Row 1: K35
Row 2, (P1. K4, P1, K4) 3 times P1, K4
Row 3: K35
Row 4, (P1, K4, P5) 3 times, P1, K4
Cast on 70 stitches using the cable cast on method. Join to work in the round.
Work 2.5 inches garter stitch, ending on a WS row. (Knit one round and then Purl one round to achieve garter stitch when working in the round).
Divide for front and back:
Front: Starting at Row 1 of pattern for the front, work it 3.5 times across 35 stitches. Turn and place the remainder of the stitches on a holder.
Work on these 35 stitches and continue in pattern until the piece measures 5.5 inches, ending on row 2 of the pattern. Place these stitches on the holder.
Back: Rejoin yarn to the back 35 stitches and work the pattern for the back, until the back matches the front.
Place the front stitches back on the needle and work the decreases across the whole teacosy in the round. Place a marker at the beginning of the round.
Decreases:
Round 1: K6, K2tog, K2 (7 times)
Round 2: P4, K5 (7 times)
Round 3: K1, K2tog, K1, K5 (7 times)
Round 4: P3, K1, P3, K1 (7 times)
Round 5: K5, K2tog, K1 (7 times)
Round 6: P3, K4 (7 times)
Round 7: K1, K2tog, K4 (7 times)
Round 8: P2, K1, P2, K1 (7 times)
Round 9: K3, K2tog, K1 (7 times)
Round 10: P2, K3 (7 times)
Round 11 K2tog, K3 (7 times)
Round 12: P1, K1, P1, K1 (7 times)
Round 13: K2tog, K2 (7 times)
Round 14: K2tog, K1 (7 times)
Round 15: K2tog (7 times)
Break the yarn leaving a tail of 12 inches. Thread the yarn onto a yarn sewing needle and pass the needle through the 8 stitches one at a time. Sew in all the ends.
Make a pompom and sew to the top. Enjoy
